Self Evaluations

As of the 2022-2023 Year-End Evaluation, university staff employees have a self-evaluation option built into the Year-End Evaluation task.

The steps below are applicable to classified staff employees whose department or supervisor require a self-evaluation.

Step 1: Employee

The Self Evaluation workflow begins with the employee leaving a summary of accomplishments on each individual goal. These summaries will be entered as comments on each goal.

  1. Follow instruction for Adding Comments to Goals

  2. Repeat these steps for every goal you would like to self-evaluate.

  3. If your supervisor has asked you to include a rating, rate yourself from 1-5 as part of your comment.

Step 2: Supervisor

Review your employee’s self-evaluation and incorporate their comments into the Year-End Evaluation task so that it will be added into their personnel file. Here are the steps to follow if you wish to use your employee’s self evaluation as a factor of consideration for final ratings.

  1. Navigate to your employee’s Final Performance Evaluation task from the Cornerstone homepage

  2. Select the “Get Started” button

  3. On each individual goal, use the downward facing carrot () to bring up a list of options

  4. Select “Performance Plan Page Comments” which will then bring up the self-evaluation that was created by your employee based on that particular goal from Step 1. Note: this will also bring up all comments made throughout the year. The most recent comment should be the self-evaluation provided by the employee.

  5. Copy and paste the self-evaluation comments into the comment box of the evaluation task (view the GIF below). Comments copied into this section will then be transferred over to the final PDF that will be later sent to the employee’s personnel file.
