Changing Default Email Handler

By default, any link or action in Salesforce that allows the user to compose an email will open the email with the built-in Salesforce Email Composer.

Users can edit this setting to instead use their default email application. For example, a user with a default email application set to Outlook on the web will open Outlook in the current tab. To change this setting:

  • Log in to the Salesforce HRI

  • Click the user icon in the top right corner of the page

  • Click Settings

  • On the left side menu, select Email, then My Email Settings

  • On this page select "Default Email Application" under the "Composer" section

  • Click Save
