Creating a Goal as a Supervisor

Supervisors can also assign goals to their employees directly through the Snapshot feature instead of using the Assignment option found when creating a goal from your performance plan. While we do advise using the Assignment option when creating goals for your employees because it allows you to send the same goal to multiple employees at a time, this is an alternative workflow that we would like to document as it yields similar results. However please note, with this workflow you are basically selecting an employee first prior to creating the goal you want for them, and in turn you are only able to assign the goal you create to the employee you select. If you are more interested in learning how the general Assignment option works, please visit this section of the Cornerstone Knowledgebase.

You can still use the Assignment option to assign a goal to one employee, it does not need to be used only for multiple employees.

  1. Click on the Profile & Snapshot tile from your Cornerstone home page.

  2. Click View Team and select the employee that you wish to assign a new goal to.

3. You will be presented with your employee’s profile where you can then go into their Snapshot view, and click on the Goals tile.

4. This will bring up your employee’s performance plan. From here, you can click on Create.

5. The goal creation page will display. Build out the goal you want to assign specifically to the employee you selected and hit Submit when done. This will create that goal and add it directly to the employee’s performance plan.

You will not see the Assignment option since the new goal is only for the employee selected.

You can not “Save as Draft” if the employee you are using this process for is an indirect report. Drafts can only be saved if it is your direct report. If you are not ready to submit the goal for an indirect report by using this workflow, return to their Snapshot page at a later time.
