Mid-year coaching is the second step in the performance process and occurs halfway through the performance cycle.
Sign-off on a coaching task is required for Classified Staff and strongly encouraged for University Staff.

Mid-Year Coaching Step-by-Step Guide
This coaching session task is a 2 step process that begins with the supervisor. The coaching session task steps are the same for all CU Boulder staff.
At the beginning of each cycle, the supervisor will see a new task in the Tasks (Action Required) section on the homepage. The supervisor will complete the first step of the task:

Step 1: Supervisor Coaching Session Review
From the homepage, select the coaching session task for your employee. It should be titled “[2020-2021] University Staff (or Classified Staff) Mid-Year Coaching Session for [Employee Name].”
On the overview screen, read the directions and click “Get Started.”
The Supervisor Coaching Session Checklist page ensures that a plan has been created and a 1-on-1 discussion has occurred. Check the boxes for the following items:
Discuss updates to goals, job duties, and competencies with your employee
Review alignment of your employee’s plan to department objectives
Review and update performance plan progress and comments
View how to add comments to goals here
Click Save and Continue.
On the Supervisor Sign-Off page, provide your signature and click Sign.
Click Submit when you are ready to send the coaching session task to the employee.
A confirmation page will display. The coaching session task has now been sent to the employee to review and acknowledge.
Step 2: Employee Coaching Session Review
From the homepage, select the coaching session task. It should be titled “Your [2020-2021] Mid-Year Coaching Session.”
On the overview screen, read the directions and click “Get Started.”
The Employee Coaching Session Checklist page ensures that a plan has been created and a 1-on-1 discussion has occurred. Check the boxes for the following items:
Discuss updates to goals, job duties, and competencies with your supervisor
Review alignment to your supervisor/department objectives
Review and update your performance plan progress and comments
View how to add comments to goals here
Click Save and Continue.
On the Employee Acknowledgment page, provide your signature and click Sign.
Click Submit when you are ready to finalize the coaching session task.
A confirmation page will display. The coaching session task is now complete, and both yourself and your supervisor will receive a notification regarding completion.
