Performance tasks in Cornerstone are signature workflows.

Performance tasks begin with the supervisor.

Performance tasks in Cornerstone are different than tasks & targets added to individual goals.

Performance tasks are set around review period dates, and will always pull in goals that overlap the review period date range.

The University Staff Year End Evaluation task allows you to:

  • As a supervisor, determine if you would like your employee to complete a self-evaluation and comment on the performance plan for your employee.

  • As an employee, use the task (if applicable) to complete a self-evaluation for your supervisor to consider when determining your final departmental rating

  • Route the plan back to the supervisor for review, rating, comments of individual goals and consequently an overall final departmental rating

  • Sign off on the finalized evaluation as a supervisor and acknowledge the evaluation as an employee

The University Staff Year End Evaluation is a 4 step process that begins with the supervisor.

At the beginning of each cycle, the supervisor will see a new task in the Tasks (Action Required) box on the homepage. The supervisor will complete the first step of the task:

The Tasks (Action Required) box will only display 10 tasks. If you have more than 10 tasks, you can find the full list by clicking on “Tasks (Action Required)” to visit your tasks page.

If you are an employee with multiple positions, please coordinate with your supervisor on which evaluation needs to be completed within Cornerstone, and which one needs to be done offline.

Step 1: Supervisor Self-Review Selection

  1. In the Tasks (Action Required) box on your home page, select the final performance evaluation for your employee.

  2. From the overview screen, read the directions and click Get Started.

  3. On the Supervisor Acknowledgement of Self-Evaluation Page, indicate whether or not you would like your employees to use the following sections to provide a self-evaluation. This is usually a departmental decision.

  4. On the Employee Self Evaluation Goal Rating Section (If Applicable) supervisor’s have the ability to add comments if applicable depending on their department’s process.

    1. If the supervisor has selected YES, they can push the task forward without adding comments.

    2. If the supervisor has selected NO, they can use this opportunity to add comments on the goals, if they would like, for the employee to review

  5. Click Submit to send over your goal rating section to the employee for review, or Save and Exit if you wish to continue at a later time.

  6. A confirmation page will display. The year end performance evaluation has now been sent to the employee.

Step 2: Employee Review

  1. In the Tasks (Action Required) box on your home page, select your final performance evaluation.

  2. From the overview screen, read the directions and click Get Started.

  3. On the Supervisor Acknowledgement of Self-Evaluation page, review the yes/no dropdown and the instructions.

    1. If YES use this opportunity to provide a self-evaluation for your performance plan

    2. If NO, push the task forward without additional comments back to the supervisor so they can complete the Final Evaluation.

  4. Next the employee will be pushed to the Employee Self Evaluation Goal Rating Section (If Applicable)

    1. On this page, the employee can either add comments to the goals if they are using it as a self-evaluation, or push the task forward without comment for the supervisor to complete the Final Evaluation.

  5. Next the employee will be pushed to the Employee Self Evaluation Narrative Section (If Applicable)

    1. Here, the employee can provide a narrative they would like to be considered in their self-evaluation

    2. Again, if the department does not participate in the self-evaluation process, you can enter N/A in the comment box and push the task forward.

  6. Click Submit to send over your finalized comments to the supervisor for sign off, or Save and Exit if you wish to continue at a later time.

  7. A confirmation page will display. The year end performance evaluation has now been sent back to the supervisor.

Step 3: Supervisor Final Departmental Rating and Sign-Off

  1. In the Tasks (Action Required) box on your home page, select the final performance evaluation for your employee.

  2. From the overview screen, read the directions and click Get Started.

  3. On the Employee Self Evaluation Narrative Section (If Applicable), review any narrative the employee has made if they are participating in a self-evaluation.

  4. On the Employee Self Evaluation Goal Rating Section (If Applicable) page, review the comments you made in Step 1.

    1. Add comments, ratings, and weights, to the Performance Plan for the employee to view

      1. This is a chance to consider the employee’s self-review comments if applicable

    2. Click Save and Continue to proceed, or Save and Exit if you wish to continue at a later time.

  5. The Final Departmental Rating page will allow you to assign an overall rating for the employee’s final performance evaluation based on the University Staff rating scale (1-5). This is the rating that will be saved in the employee’s personnel file. You also have the option to write a summary in the comment box. Click Save and Continue to proceed, or Save and Exit if you wish to continue at a later time.

  6. On the Supervisor Final Sign Off page, enter your full name then click Sign to view your signature with a timestamp. Then click Submit when you are ready to send the finalized evaluation to the employee.

    1. This is the supervisor’s chance to click Save and Exit if your department participates in a calibration process before submitting the final departmental rating.

  7. Once you are sure of your final departmental rating, click submit. A confirmation page will display. The year end performance evaluation has now been sent to the employee for final acknowledgment.

For departments that participate in the calibration process, do NOT click Submit until you have held your department calibration meetings.

  • To prepare for the calibration meeting, run the Performance Review Rating report, which will display the University Staff Rating (average weighted score) and the Final Departmental Rating

  • After holding the calibration meeting, log back into the Year-End Evaluation task; update any scores per the calibration discussion by clicking into the University Staff Ratings section of the task

Step 4: Employee Acknowledgment

  1. In the Tasks (Action Required) box on your home page, select your final performance evaluation.

  2. From the overview screen, read the directions and click Get Started.

  3. On the Employee Self Evaluation Goal Rating Section (If Applicable) page, review the performance plan ratings and comments given to you by your supervisor. Click Next to proceed to the following step.

  4. Review the final departmental rating score given to you by your supervisor. Enter any final comments you wish to have inserted in the finalized PDF version of the evaluation that will be sent to your personnel record. Click Save and Continue to proceed, or Save and Exit if you wish to continue at a later time.

  5. On the Employee Acknowledgment page, enter your full name then click Sign to view your signature with a timestamp. Then click Submit when you are ready to complete your performance evaluation.

  6. A confirmation page will display. The University Staff Final Performance Evaluation task is now complete, and both yourself and your supervisor will receive an email notification regarding completion, with instructions to download a copy of the evaluation for your records.
